Ergonomic Assessment

Supporting individuals to implement safe work practises through ergonomic assessment, analysis, and design

The Postural Epidemic

On average, a person spends between 9 and 12 hours in a seated position each day. These hours are most commonly shared between the car, workstation, dinner table and couch, four places which do not encourage good posture. Prolonged sitting, even at the best  ergonomically designed workstations, still has considerable detrimental effects on the body, and negatively impacts on the performance of tasks. More often than not, individuals are unaware of how to adjust their workstation, they don’t understand how their chair works and they ‘forget’ to adjust computer screens, steering wheels and control panels to best support optimal posture. In a nut shell, individuals lack the ‘know how’ when it comes to implementing ergonomic principles at work and at home.  Kadam Kinetics offers not only ergonomic analysis and assessment but education to empower individuals to identify the need for, and implement, change on a daily basis.

The Ergonomic Assessment

Kadam Kinetics offers ergonomic analysis, assessment and education to office workers (including home office), plant and machinery operators, and drivers. Each assessment takes approximately 20 minutes and a report can be prepared on request. Individuals undergo postural analysis and are taught how to adjust, design and alter their work station  to accommodate their physicality.  Individuals are also taught best practise in regard to their job role and ergonomic task flow. These ergonomic assessments provide individuals with transferable skills across workstations and places, and teach the importance of stretching, and regular job breaks for healthy, safe and productive outcomes.

Benefits

Participants will discover postural habits that may contribute to aches, pains and lack of creativity or productivity whilst at their workstation. They will receive information and guidance on how to adjust and manage their workstation to best support their optimal posture, and they will be shown alternative work practises to minimise repetitive strain injury. They will understand best practise ergonomic principles, and possess the skills and knowledge necessary to apply these principles to make small changes to their workstations on a regular basis. They will be encouraged to participate in regular stretch breaks with colleagues to create a workplace culture where injury prevention is key. Most importantly participants will be empowered to take responsibility for their own workstation and work practises.

Take Home

Participants will receive a Kadam Kinetics Ergonomic checklist. The checklist includes:

  • Guidelines for adjusting individual workstations, chairs, stools, desks, computers, control panels, stationary
  • Guidelines for optimal posture
  • Guidelines for standing desks / workstations
  • Importance of stretching and regular breaks
  • Stretches
  • Detailed report (on request)
